Resume of Career

Jonathan Chinwendu Mbah is a Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering. He received his B.S.Ch.E and M.S.Ch.E from University of Lagos, Nigeria, and North carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, North Carolina respectively. His immediate research focus is on the production of hydrogen by the electrochemical decomposition of hydrogen sulfide. In this project hydrogen sulfide will be decomposed electrolytically at 150o C, a temperature at which sulfur is a low viscous liquid and can flow out of the electrolytic cell without hindrance. For this process, they are seeking to exploit some recent developments in solid state electrolytes. These involve inorganic crystals whose proton conductivities rise rapidly with temperature. A particular one of his interest is cesium hydrogen sulfate which has a high conductivity at 150o C.
